MahjMates is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights as a user.
MahjMates stores your preferences (display name, skill level, preferred game styles) and your saved and hidden listings locally on your device. Listings you post — including the title, description, city/state, and any contact details you choose to include — are sent to and stored on the MahjMates server so that other players can find them. To power the Near Me feature, the city and state on a listing are converted to approximate map coordinates on our server; your device's precise GPS location is used only on-device to calculate distances and is never stored or sent anywhere.
All information you provide is used solely to personalize your experience within the app. Your name and skill level appear on listings you post. Your location, if shared, is used only to sort and filter nearby games — it is not logged, stored, or shared with any third party.
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers. Listings you post are public: their title, description, location, and any contact information you include (such as an email address or phone number) are visible to all other users so they can reach you about your listing. Only include contact details you are comfortable sharing publicly. We use a third-party mapping service to convert a listing's city and state into approximate coordinates for the Near Me feature.
Your profile preferences and your saved and hidden listings are stored locally on your device; uninstalling the app permanently deletes them. Listings you post are stored on the MahjMates server so they can be shared with other players, and they remain there until you delete them. We do not require accounts or passwords — a private identifier generated on your device lets you edit or delete the listings you created.
MahjMates is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us so we can address it promptly.
You can edit or delete any listing you created at any time from within the app, which removes it from the MahjMates server. You can edit your profile or uninstall the app to remove all data stored on your device. If you need a listing removed and can no longer access the device that created it, contact us at privacy@mahjmates.app.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected here and in the app. Continued use of MahjMates after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
